How does it work?

Berkely University uses what is called "distributed computing" on a platform called BOINC to perform research work in many fields including astronomy, astrophysics, biomedical research, medicine, physics, mathematics, and many more. Distributed computing works by sending our digital devices "work units", which your digital device uses its processor, or brain to solve. These work units once complete are sent back to Berkely University and added to all the other work units completed by the millions of other people who participate in distributed computing with you. This basically gives Berkeley university researchers what is essentially the largest computer on earth, a computer made up of millions of users just like you, all offering up their processor power to help a cause.

Will it make my device run slowly?

No. The only time BOINC runs is when you are not using your device. So when your device is idle, and not doing anything like watching our videos on youtube, it can be helping to solve the worlds problems.

Is there is a "Funny Bug Bees" Team?

Yes. Once you pick a project to let your device work on, you can go to the projects homepage and join a team. Just search for "Funny Bug Bees" on the project search page.
