Step 1 - Is to cut your lumber to final dimensions. The dimensions for building your own 8-frame honey super are at the bottom of the page. Make sure the corners are square, or the box will not go together properly.
Step 2 - Is to form your rabbet joints. This is most easily done with a 3/4" dado blade. Though it can be done with a standard saw blade as well by making multiple passes, an 1/8" at a time on the shorts sides of both short boards. What you want to end up with is a groove which extends from the end of the short board inward 3/4".
Step 3 - Now that you have all your boards cut and your rabbet joint slots cut, you simply need to join the long boards to the short boards using glue and nails.
Step 4 - using a speed square or a carpenters square, make sure the corners of the box are square. Make any adjustments now before the glue sets.
Step 5 - Set the box to the side and allow the glue to completely cure. Once the glue cures, the box is ready for use.
