Hive Bodies & Supers
Hive bodies and supers are the main components of a bee hive. They form the boxes in which the bees make honey comb, store honey, lay eggs, and store pollen and nectar. A deep hive body is sometimes referred to as a brood box. These are not honey supers though one could use them as such. Deep hive bodies are deeper than honey supers and typically used as the bottom one or two boxes of a bee hive. This is the box that the queen will lay eggs in. Honey supers are typically medium or shallow boxes and used primarily for honey storage. They are made shallower so that they are lighter when full of honey and easier for a bee keeper to manipulate.
