Beneficial Nematodes
Beneficial nematodes are a nearly microscopic roundworm which prey on small hive beetle larva in the soil. They also prey on other pest insects. They are completely harmless to honeybees, humans and pets.
Once they find a target larva and feed on it, they then use the dead small hive beetle larva as a substrate to reproduce themselves on. This effectively breaks the life cycle of small hive beetles in your bee yard.
They are used to seed your soil with live nematodes. This is a live animal product. You apply them directly to your soil where they burrow into the ground in search of small hive beetle larva to feed on. Once found the nematodes colonize the pupating small hive beetle larva, destroying it, and then reproduce and spread through your soil in search of more small hive beetle larva.
By Law All nematode species are prohibited from being shipped to Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico, or U.S. V.I. We do not automatically ship nematodes until your local average ground temperature is about 70 degrees.
